It's been a long time since we dissected the four Lawn Dart games and broke down some of the keys to getting big scores. In an ongoing series on Targettosspro.com, we'll be take a closer look at the proper strategy when playing Lawn Darts and giving out Pointers (get it!) to improving your overall score.
We begin with Poker Darts, which no doubt provides the easiest opportunity to join the elusive Top Tosser club by nailing a royal flush. With that being said, this is no easy task either.
Here they are - Part 1 of Poker Darts Pointers.
Wind is the most critical variable in all of the Target Toss Pro games and needs to be adjusted for accordingly in order to become a master. Easier said than done. Still, with practice and the right techniques to battle it, you can really make the big winds a lot easier to manage.
Instead of hitting the trackball left or right, adjust for the winds by moving your character. This way you don't have to alter your throw just the positioning. EXAMPLE: Instead of battling a right-10 wind by hitting the ball left, move your character left 2 feet. This allows you to still hit the ball straight because you've already compensated.
This will take some practice and plenty of failures before you get it down but it will work. The beauty in this technique is you can hit the same exact shot direction-wise each and every time. This, my friends, is a true luxury. This may seem like a simple, and somewhat mindless adjustment, but sometimes the smaller changes make big differences.
The first thing to look at when you're given a fresh board of playing cards is knowing where all the royal (10, J, K, Q, A) cards lie. The royal flush is what were all looking for and figuring out which suit might be the easiest road to success in that round is best.
The closer cards is what you're looking for. Cards tucked in the back three rows will require a good shot even without a difficult wind. Do you have problems with cards tucked along the sides? Are you better at certain shots than others? These are all questions you have to ask yourself BEFORE you throw your first dart.
Finding setups where two suited-royal cards are next one another is also very nice. This gives you a safety blanket if you are off with your aim. While you won't see this every round, you will see it more than you'd expect.
That's all for today's lesson, folks. Tune in next week for more Poker Dart Pointers as we examine some of the finer points of finally nailing that elusive royal flush!
