Clash of the Titans Top BAGS players duke it out after tournament | |
|
Alone and on a mission, Timmy Mims from Sumter, SC thumbed away at the Target Toss Pro: BAGS game in the ballroom of the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta.
Little did anyone know that Mims was posting some of the most obscene scores in TTP's brief history. 91, 94, 97, 94, 96, 92… on and on Mims rattled them off like an assembly line. He barely took time to notice the wind in between tosses. And not unlike a certain pink bunny, he just kept going and going at a rapid fire pace. He sunk 21 in a row TWICE! And he topped that by becoming the first player ever to sink ALL 24 bags! Finally, one of the IT staff members took notice and stood in shock at what he was witnessing. No way could this be real! Immediately all work stopped as everyone gathered around Mims. It didn't take long after that for him to hit his mark - 100 right on the nose. Then he did it again! And again! And one more time!
But that didn't stop those around Sobe from saying he no longer was the best. The night's competition was supposed to be over. Instead, it was just getting started! Immediately, the two top tossers began what can only be described as one of the greatest head-to-head matches BAGS has ever seen. Back and forth the two went. Counter punching each other's best blows. Any time one sunk their shot, the other did the same. Neither would let the other have any leeway. But the Champ wouldn't give up his crown. Sobe sunk his last eight tosses, including a perfect fifth inning. Try as he might, Mims simply couldn't keep up. Who could with that? And in the end the champ prevailed - winning 80-77.
The king may still have his crown. But for how long? A formidable suitor is waiting in the wings back in Sumter. EPILOGUE - Only days after the occurrence mentioned above, Mims sent an e-mail to IT. It didn't say much, but it contained a photo - of him scoring a 106 to break the record! Sobe hasn't been seen since. |
