Targettosspro.com Takes a Look at the Different Shot Types in BAGS

box Three easy words separate you from the best.

Sure, you might know one of them. Or maybe two. But unless you know all three, you'll never know the power they hold. Because combined, these three words can be deadly.

Flop. Slide. Bounce.

In Target Toss Pro: BAGS that's what it's all about. You're ability to use these three shots to not only subdue your opponents - but to crush them. Every shot is different. And each has their place.

Maybe it's your first toss of the game. Maybe you're blocked. Maybe you're facing a headwind or crosswind in the 5th inning. Maybe you need a five-pointer for the win.

No matter what the scenario, there's a shot for it. That's the way Ralph Melgosa, senior artist and co-creator of BAGS, and the rest of the team from IT designed the game. So you have total control over your shots.

But unless you know, and use, every shot you'll never be fully in control.

Flopshot The default shot in the game is the simple flop shot. With no real movement, the flop rotates through the air and sticks to the board with a dull thud. Really, there's not much to it. But that's exactly why this shot is perfect for novice and average players. Considering there's no real chance of the shot going anywhere once it hits the board, this is the shot to select if you're just trying to go for points - or strategy.

"I like it because it's a nice, consistent shot," Melgosa commented. "It's tried and true. I like to start off innings with it to block the hole."

Slideshot But when you're just playing by yourself, the flop shot goes from being a weapon of strategy to a weapon of mass scoring. Since the flop doesn't hit the board and move it's THE shot for hitting five-pointers. Just ask three-time Golden Tee champion Steven Sobe or South Carolina ace, Timmy Mims. Combined they have NINE 100-point games. There weapon of choice - the flop.

For the aggressive types out there, there's nothing better than a slide shot. With it's hovering spin and straight-line speed, the slide is an aggressive shot that can get you big points when you slide it into the hole. It's even good for knocking other bags into the hole as well. Just don't slide it off.

"It's a riskier shot," Melgosa said. "It can be great for three-pointers and knocking an opponents bag out of the way. But if you throw it too far it can slide right off."

The favorite strategy of the game's other co-creator, Senior Game Designer Jim Zielinski, the slide helps you get big points early. Plus, when those late round winds rear their heads, the slide cuts through better than any other shot.

Bounceshot And then comes the utility shot - the bounce. It may not be the best choice for every throw, but when you need to hop over an opposing player's block there's nothing better. The key to this shot is mastering the angle. A high arching angle won't make the bag bounce nearly as far as a lower angle. But with a little practice you'll be bouncing it in the hole in no time.

So there they are - the three easy words that can help you dominate anyone who dares challenge you. Each has their ups and downs, but remember it's when you combine all three that the big scores will start coming. And your opponents start falling.

The power is yours. Use it wisely!
